We are here with the Munich food and beverage guide. We can say that Munich is very satisfying about eating and drinking. Chicken products are especially delicious in Europe, and we think that there are good restaurants in Munich on this subject. If the stomaches are hungry, let’s start right away :).
We start with breakfast, which is the most important meal of the day, because we need high energy while traveling around Europe step by step :). Let’s come to our breakfast place. You should definitely have breakfast here on one day of your vacation.
The place is quite spacious and the menu is wide. Since we preferred our accommodation without breakfast on our Munich trip, we immediately started looking for breakfast places in Munich. It was one of the high-rated venues we came across in searches and we wanted to try Cotidiano. Good thing we tried. Of course, it is impossible to find a varied and satisfying breakfast like Turkish breakfast abroad. But if you like healthy products, if you love avocado breakfasts, if you like granola and fruit breakfasts, Cotidiano is definitely for you.
We preferred the avocado egg option with toast bread and the fruit product called Bircher muesli (we think it was). We started the day with a wonderful breakfast that we enjoyed every second. The taste is still on our palate! You must definitely stop by. Prices are on average in Europe. Avacado egg toast 9.8 euro bowl with fruit 4.8 euro.
We can say that Munich is the most famous place. One of the reasons this place is famous is because it was here that Hitler first made the participation speeches he sought support. The place gives the feeling of entering an inn in the Middle Ages. It is a big place and there is a part where huge beer glasses are locked. If you are a permanent customer of this place, you can store your beer glass in the venue and use it when you come.
Hofbrauhaus is always a crowded place. When you get inside, you are a little stunned at first because it seems like there is no free space and there is excessive noise. Do not wait in vain for a waiter to attend to you when you enter the place, sit directly where you see empty. You will probably dine with people you don’t know, which is very normal for Hofbrauhaus. If you are 2 people and you found an empty table for 6 people (very difficult), you can still be sure that 4 people you do not know will be added with you! On the bright side, this will be an international dining experience :).
You entered the venue and somehow found a place, the waiter will bring you a menu and take your order. The menu is quite extensive, you can find something for yourself. Chicken and its derivatives are especially delicious in Germany.
We ordered half chicken fried in the oven, and it came with a homemade potato salad; It was very tasty and filling. The price was around 12-13 euro. While you are eating, there may be people who wear their local clothes and sell Munich’s famous bagel Bretzel, if you are curious, you can buy it and try it. In addition, we could not experience their beer because we did not drink alcohol, but many comments on the internet say it is very good, do not return without trying.
If you visit Munich, we think that you should definitely spend an evening at the Hofbrauhaus and experience the Medieval atmosphere.
Unfortunately, we mark it as an exaggerated place. In our research before going to Munich, it was written that schnitzel should be eaten at Andy’s Krablergarten. So we decided to go to Andy’s Krablergarten. When we went to the venue, we encountered the queue and waited in line for exactly 1 hour on the cold December evening. Even though we wrestled with the thought of “going back” from time to time, we were convinced to wait for 1 hour by saying “no, no, the best schnitzel is here, let’s eat”. It is not known whether it was because we waited so long or because we raised the expectation a lot based on the comments, but we did not like the schnitzel here!
First of all, the schnitzel is incredibly large. Do not make the mistake of ordering 1 portion of schnitzel alone! 2 people can comfortably fill with 1 portion of schnitzel. We saw some people order 1 serving of schnitzel and eat it alone and we were officially shocked. Oh, don’t follow them, listen to us, you’ll thank :).
As for its flavor, we think it is overdone as we said at the beginning. We were even saddened by saying that it was not worth waiting for so long. We attribute its popularity to the extremely large portion of the schnitzel. As you know, Germans say they have a scorpion in their pocket, we think it’s true, otherwise this place would not be so popular :)). Long story short, if you say I will go or it will remain in my mind, go, but it was an unnecessary experience for us.
One of the popular Italian restaurants in Munich. We found a few places to try Italian flavors, but finally we decided on Oh Julia. The environment is quite beautiful, it is located in a building similar to a shopping center. We tried the classic margarita pizza and a different pasta with spinach and cheese. We quite liked what we ate.
We especially liked the spinach and cheese pasta with radish, although it tastes different. The portions are quite large. Oh Julia is good in terms of taste but a bit bad in terms of service. The waiters are not attentive and seem oddly reluctant. However, if you want to try Italian flavors in Munich, you can stop by Oh Julia.
The Victorian House
On the last day of our trip, we chose The Victorian House for breakfast. We waited a bit as we did not have a reservation, but it was our turn quickly. When you enter the place, you encounter the English style. The place seems to be famous for this style anyway. Only the salt and pepper shakers on the table were the plain white products we know and were ordinary, unfortunately they could not catch the concept in some places. The place is a bit narrow and you are intertwined with other customers, so the environment can be noisy while chatting. The score was very good, we wanted to try it, but we can say that the prices are a bit more expensive than other places. We had a light breakfast with omelette and it was good, can be tried.
Man vs Machine
We wouldn’t be exaggerating if we say that we visited Munich on foot. In our 4-day trip, we took an average of more than 20,000 steps per day. Naturally, we got tired of walking a lot and discovered Man vs Machine in one of our coffee shop searches for a little break. Man vs Machine is a world famous coffee shop, so we wanted to try this place. Its branch in Munich is a bit small, but it has a friendly atmosphere. We tried the cappucino and cinnamon bun and liked it very much. We even wanted to buy filter coffee for the return, but when even a small package was around 17 euros, we gave up. But if you still want to buy something from here, plastic Man vs Machine cups were only 1 euro, keep in mind.
Apart from these, please do not miss to try the famous Munich bagel Bretzel. The taste as well as the appearance reminded us of Crax in grocery stores. Bagel Bretzel can be a very big but soft version of Crax.
This was our eating and drinking experiences in Munich. If you have a favorite place to go in Munich or a meal you love to eat, please share it with us in the comments :).
Stay with flavor!
